Engine problems and loss of power in Citroen Jumpy 2008 - Possible defect in the tank ventilation valve?

Hey guys, I have a problem with my 2008 Citroen Jumpy. For some time now, the Check Engine light has been on and I've noticed a loss of power when running, rough engine running and jerking when accelerating. It also dies sometimes when idling and shakes. I suspect it could be the tank breather valve, but that's just a guess. Have any of you had similar problems and what did your mechanic say? I would be very grateful for your help! By the way, the car has almost 40134KM on the clock and runs on gasoline. Thanks in advance!

Summary of the thread

A 2008 Citroen Jumpy is experiencing engine problems, including a Check Engine light, loss of power, rough running, jerking during acceleration, and stalling at idle. The suspected cause is a defect in the tank ventilation valve, but similar symptoms were resolved by cleaning or replacing clogged hoses. Addressing this issue is crucial for improving ride comfort and safety, and a mechanic should be able to diagnose and fix the problem.

Hi, your symptoms sound almost exactly like the ones I had with my 2011 Citroen Jumpy. It turned out that the hoses in my car were clogged. The engine was running rough and the car was jerking especially when accelerating. Quite similar to what you are experiencing, might sound like the tank breather valve but unfortunately that is not always the case. The solution was actually to clean the hoses and sometimes they even need replacing - it depends on how clogged they are. It is definitely a serious problem as it affects ride comfort and safety. Your mechanic should be able to sort it out. All the best!

Hey, thanks for the quick reply! It really sounds like it could be the same for me. Do you happen to remember how much the repair cost you? And have you had any other problems with your Citroen Jumpy since then? I'd be really interested to know. Thanks in advance!

Hey, you're welcome! So, the trouble with the hose cost me around €175. Since the visit to the mechanic, everything has been running smoothly again and I haven't had any further problems. In particular, the fault with the tank ventilation valve was fixed. You really notice the difference. Hope that helps you!

Thank you very much for your help! It sounds like it helped quite a bit. I'm glad your car has been running well since then. I think I'll go to the garage tomorrow morning and hope it's that easy for me too. The cost is a little high, but if it fixes the problem, it's worth it. Thanks again for the information!
