Engine problems with the 2015 VW Passat petrol model: experience and suggested solutions wanted
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
The 2015 VW Passat petrol model is experiencing engine problems, including a Check Engine light, engine stalling, loss of power, unstable engine running, jerking when accelerating, and increased fuel consumption. The owner suspects the throttle valve might be the issue, as it has caused problems before. Another VW owner confirmed that a similar issue with his car was resolved by replacing the throttle body, performing a complete engine check, and updating some software. The advice given was to take the car to a garage and specifically request a check of the throttle.

Hey, thanks for your answer! Your experience reassures me a little. I think I'll do just that - take my Passat to the garage and address the issue with the throttle valve. Do you remember how much the repair cost you? And have you encountered any other problems since then? Any additional information would be appreciated, thank you!

Hey, I'm glad I could help you a little! So, the repair with the throttle valve actually got me back on track - the throttle valve fault was finally fixed after the visit to the mechanic. In terms of costs, I had to fork out €95 to fix the faulty cable connection/plug connection. But it was absolutely worth it when you consider that the thing runs like a new car again. I've had no further problems since then. So, no need to worry - take it to the garage and get it checked. Everything will be fine!

Great, thanks for the info! 95 € sounds really fair, especially when you consider that the car will run like the first day again afterwards. Your words have given me courage, thank you for that! I'll take my Passat to the garage tomorrow and hope that I'll have the same experience as you. Thanks again for your help!

Hello, On the one hand, it looks like the crankshaft sensor is defective and, on the other, the knock sensor on your engine. However, as both faults are stored in your vehicle, I would take a look at the wiring harness to see if there is any damage (e.g. marten damage). It is often the case that these two sensors go together in one wiring harness to the engine control unit. Please let us know if you have found a problem here.

The P0121 error code typically indicates an issue with the throttle position sensor (TPS) or its circuit. Start by checking the wiring and connections to the TPS for any signs of damage or corrosion. If the wiring looks fine, the sensor itself might need to be tested or replaced. It's important to address this issue as it can affect engine performance. Let me know how it goes or if you have any further questions!

Hey buddy, I have a 2012 VW Golf and had exactly these problems. For me it was actually the throttle body that was causing the trouble. Regarding the engine problems, I have to say it was a pretty serious problem. During my last visit to the garage they changed the throttle body and did a complete engine check. They also had to update some software as the old versions can cause problems. After everything was done, my Golf ran like a new car again. So definitely take your car to the garage and tell them to check the throttle as well. Hope that helps you!
