Enjoy preheating lamp check engine light and smoke
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Chevrolet Enjoy diesel exhibited issues with the preheating lamp not switching off, the check engine light being on, and smoke during acceleration. Diagnostics suggested a defective glow control unit, but there was suspicion of a bad cable or plug. It was advised to check the voltage at the glow plugs and consider a workshop visit for proper diagnosis. Ultimately, the problem was resolved by fixing a faulty connection in the glow control unit circuit.

Thanks. I haven't checked the voltage at the glow plugs directly yet. Did your Enjoy have the exact same symptoms: persistent preheating lamp, check engine light, and smoke?

Yes, those were the precise symptoms I observed. Given the potential complexity and the need for specialized tools, I'd advise a workshop visit. They can properly diagnose the electrical system. Don't delay this; a malfunctioning glow plug system can negatively impact starting and fuel economy.

Thanks for the confirmation and advice. I took it to a workshop. It was a faulty connection in the glow control unit circuit, costing 95€ to fix. Problem solved.

I had similar symptoms on my Enjoy. If the diagnostic test confirms a glow control unit fault, it could be a wiring issue. Have you checked the voltage at the glow plugs themselves? A multimeter would be useful.
