Entourage Alarm System Failure
Summary of the thread
The 2007 Hyundai Entourage experienced a malfunction in its anti-theft alarm system, which failed to arm when locking the doors. The issue was traced to a fault in the alarm system's coding, particularly related to the indicator lights. Potential causes included a communication issue or a problem with the control unit handling the alarm. The solution involved recoding the alarm system, which resolved the problem effectively.

Thanks for the quick reply! By 'doesn't function,' I mean it doesn't arm when I lock the doors, and there are no false alarms. The indicator lights usually flash when it arms, but nothing happens now. You mentioned a communication issue – could that be related to the immobilizer, or is that a separate system? What kind of fault would cause that?

Right, no arming, got it. So, yes, the immobilizer is a separate system, but often integrated in the same control unit. And it sounds like the alarm system is coded to activate the optical locking - those are your indicator lights. If the car thinks it blinked the lights when locking, but it didn't because of a power failure, it throws an error. It could also be something related to the door sensors or the hood sensor, but based on the error code, it is likely something with the control unit that handles the car's alarm.

Thanks a lot for the clarification. I took it to a workshop, and you were spot on! It was indeed related to the coding of the alarm system and the indicator lights. They recoded it, and it's working perfectly now. The repair cost me 45€. I appreciate your help!

It sounds like the system is detecting some kind of fault, causing it to shut down the alarm entirely. When you say it doesn't function, do you mean it doesn't arm at all when you lock the doors, or does it give false alarms? It could be a communication issue, or maybe the system thinks someone's trying to break in. Has your battery been recently disconnected or gone flat?
