Entourage belt handover problem
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Hyundai Entourage owner is experiencing a problem with the belt-handover mechanism, suspecting a defective belt bringer/handover. Another individual suggests that the issue might be related to a faulty belt tensioner, which could cause the belt to slip and not engage properly, especially if there's a squealing noise when the engine is cold. The recommended solution is to check and possibly replace the belt tensioner to resolve the issue.

Yeah, I have noticed the squealing. So, are you suggesting that replacing the belt tensioner fixed the handover problem? Because I initially thought it was a separate mechanism.

Yep, pretty much. The bad tensioner was causing the belt to slip and not properly engage the handover. I'd suggest taking it to a reliable workshop to confirm, but that's likely it. My repair ran about 455€.

I think I had the same issue with my Entourage. Is it making a squealing noise, especially when the engine is cold? Check the idler pulley and tensioner. Could be the belt isn't getting enough tension.
