Entourage Knock Sensor Corrosion

I'm having trouble with my 2006 Hyundai Entourage, gasoline engine. The check engine light is on, and the OBD2 reader says it's the knock sensor. I've noticed higher fuel consumption and the engine idles unevenly, especially when cold. The sensor cable and plug connection look corroded. Thoughts? Wiggling the connector while the engine's running doesn't change the rough idling.

Summary of the thread

The 2006 Hyundai Entourage experienced issues with the check engine light, higher fuel consumption, and uneven idling, attributed to a malfunctioning knock sensor. The OBD2 code P0325 indicated a problem with the knock sensor circuit, and corrosion on the sensor's cable and plug connection was identified as a potential cause. Cleaning the corroded connector resolved the issue, restoring the vehicle's performance.

I had a similar issue with my Entourage a while back. Check Engine light, rough idle, the works. The knock sensor is important; it listens for engine knock, or pre-ignition, which can damage your engine. Is the sensor hard to reach? Try checking the resistance with a multimeter, if you have one. What code is it throwing?

The code is P0325, indicating a malfunction in the knock sensor 1 circuit. Accessibility is decent, though a bit tight. Resistance testing sounds like a plan. Could the corroded connector realistically cause these symptoms, or am I overlooking something else? A multimeter tells you how strong the connection between two testing points is, right?

P0325 pretty much confirms it's the knock sensor or its wiring. Honestly, yes, that corrosion could be the culprit. The knock sensor sends a very sensitive signal to the ECU, and even a small amount of resistance from corrosion can throw it off. I'd try cleaning the connector thoroughly or even replacing it if it's really bad. While cleaning the connector might temporarily help, it's probably worth taking it to a workshop. At this point, I'd suggest you don't risk further damage to your engine.

Took your advice and brought it to a trusted mechanic. You were spot on about the corroded connector being the main issue. They cleaned everything, tested the sensor, and the van is running perfectly again. It cost me 95€, which is a lot less than I had feared. Thanks again for the help!
