Entourage Misfire Fuel Injector

Alright, so I've got a 2007 Hyundai Entourage with a gasoline engine, only 42932 km on the clock, and it's acting up! The check engine light is on, and it's running super rough, almost like it's gonna stall. When I try to speed up, it jerks like crazy, and it feels like I'm driving with half the engine power. I'm thinking maybe it's bad fuel, but I filled up at my usual place. Could it be the fuel pump?

Summary of the thread

The 2007 Hyundai Entourage was experiencing rough running, jerking during acceleration, and reduced engine power, with the check engine light on. These symptoms suggested a combustion misfire, potentially caused by a defective fuel injector. It was recommended to have a qualified technician diagnose the issue to prevent further damage. The problem was confirmed to be a faulty fuel injector, which was replaced, resolving the issue.

The symptoms you describe, including the check engine light illumination, rough engine running, jerking during acceleration, and reduced engine power, strongly suggest a combustion misfire. Have you retrieved the specific diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) from the vehicle's onboard diagnostic system? Knowing the specific cylinder(s) affected by the misfire would greatly assist in narrowing down the potential causes. Furthermore, has the vehicle undergone any recent maintenance or repairs?

Okay, combustion misfire, got it. I don't have the exact codes, just a generic scanner saying 'misfire detected'. No recent work, either. Could it be something simple, like the throttle response needs adjusting or something? Or am I looking at something more serious here?

Given the information provided, while a throttle body issue could potentially contribute to driveability problems, the constellation of symptoms and the diagnostic trouble code suggest a more direct cause of combustion misfire. Based on the vehicle's age and mileage, a likely culprit is a defective fuel injector. I would recommend a qualified technician diagnose the fuel injectors. Further operation with a persistent misfire could cause damage to the catalytic converter. It is advisable to take the vehicle to a service facility.

Thanks, I appreciate the detailed info! I bit the bullet and took it to the shop. Turns out you were spot on with the fuel injector! Replaced the defective injection valve, and it cost me 515€. Runs like a champ now!
