Entourage poor starting issue

My 2008 Hyundai Entourage, gasoline engine, is presenting a frustrating puzzle at 178164 km. I'm encountering a perplexing Terminal 30 continuous plus interrupted issue. The primary symptom is poor vehicle starting. Could a heavily discharged or defective battery truly cause such intermittent behavior, or is this more akin to a short circuit somewhere else?

Summary of the thread

A 2008 Hyundai Entourage was experiencing poor starting issues, suspected to be related to a Terminal 30 continuous plus interrupted problem. The primary concern was whether a heavily discharged or defective battery could cause such intermittent behavior or if it was due to a short circuit. After consulting with others who had similar experiences, it was suggested to check the battery voltage. Ultimately, the issue was resolved by replacing the defective battery, which restored the vehicle's functionality.

Hey there! I feel your pain! I had a similar starting issue with my Entourage – drove me nuts for weeks! I'm no expert, but it sounds like the battery may be defective. I had a similar problem! What voltage are you getting at the battery terminals when the car is off, and then again while you're trying to crank it?

Thank you for the quick response! I will test the battery as you have asked. Can you explain what your symptoms were? Was the car completely dead sometimes, and then other times it only weakly turned over?

Exactly! It was like a light switch – either nothing at all, or it would crank slower than molasses in January. I replaced a lot of parts, I thought I was close, but it turns out my problem was something a little more obscure, and definitely needed someone with the right tools, and especially experience to figure out – definitely head to a shop, I made sure it wasn't something simple before I went.

Appreciated, I decided to take your advice and bring my car to the shop. They found a defect with the battery (heavily discharged) and replaced it + did some tests, now my Entourage works well. Cost was 290€. I wish you well.
