Eon start stop failure
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Hyundai Eon experienced a failure in its start-stop system, where the engine would not automatically restart, accompanied by a warning light and an error code. The issue was suspected to be related to a discharged or defective battery, as the start-stop system is sensitive to voltage levels. After consulting a workshop, it was confirmed that the battery was defective, and replacing it resolved the problem, restoring the start-stop system's functionality.

The battery is original, so it's quite old. I haven't checked the voltage directly. If the voltage is low, is replacement the only option, or could charging it help?

Charging might help temporarily, but if the battery is that old and heavily discharged, it's likely on its way out. The start-stop system puts a lot of strain on the battery. With my Corsa, charging didn't fix the underlying issue; it kept failing. Honestly, I'd suggest getting it tested at a workshop. They can tell you for sure if it needs replacing.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a workshop. They confirmed the battery was defective and replaced it. The start-stop system is now working perfectly. The repair cost me 290€. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.

Hey there! I had a similar problem with my 2016 Opel Corsa, and yes, it turned out to be the car battery. The start-stop system is very sensitive to voltage. The Corsa also shut off, and I got a warning light. How old is your battery? Have you checked the voltage?
