Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the wiring harness yet, but I will. Where exactly should I be looking for it? And is there anything specific I should look for besides corrosion?

The wiring harness runs to the transmission control unit, usually located near the gearbox itself. Look for any obvious signs of damage – cuts, frayed wires, or connectors that aren't properly seated. Given all the symptoms, I still suspect the control unit itself is faulty. You should take it to a workshop, they have the diagnostic tools to check the error codes and test the transmission control unit to confirm.

Thanks! I appreciate the advice. Took it to a shop and you were spot on. They ran diagnostics and confirmed the transmission control unit was defective. Cost me 1000€ for the repair, but it's running smoothly again.

Sounds like a transmission control unit issue. The symptoms you describe, especially the error code and emergency mode, point in that direction. Have you checked the wiring harness for any damage or corrosion? That can sometimes cause similar problems.
