Epica transmission indicator and check engine lights

Hi, I'm having a weird issue with my 2007 Chevrolet Epica diesel. It's got about 87996 km on the clock. The transmission indicator light and check engine light keep coming on. The automatic transmission goes into emergency mode, and it's not shifting right - feels like it's slipping, shifts uncleanly, and makes grinding noises sometimes. I pulled the error codes, and it's pointing to a radiator oil pressure defect. I'm thinking it might be a faulty cable or plug connection. Anyone else experienced this?

Summary of the thread

A 2007 Chevrolet Epica diesel is experiencing issues with the transmission indicator and check engine lights, causing the transmission to enter emergency mode and exhibit slipping, unclean shifts, and grinding noises. The error codes suggest a radiator oil pressure defect, possibly due to a faulty cable or plug connection. A similar case was resolved by addressing a faulty sensor related to the oil pressure in the cooling system, and it is recommended to have the vehicle professionally diagnosed to confirm the issue and avoid further complications.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey there, I have a Chevrolet Epica too, and this sounds vaguely familiar. I had similar symptoms a while back, the transmission was acting up and the lights were on. Have you checked the oil cooler or the pressure sensor, by any chance? It might be related to the cooling system. Is the car overheating?

Thanks for the quick response! I haven't specifically checked the oil cooler or pressure sensor yet, just been looking at the main radiator connections. Overheating could be part of it, since the cooling fan seems to be running more than usual. Is that what you were experiencing too, and where should I start looking for the sensor?

Yes, that's exactly what was happening with mine! The cooling fan was constantly running, and it turned out to be a faulty sensor related to the oil pressure in the cooling system. Honestly, with those symptoms, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose it and save you a lot of headache. It could be a simple fix, but better safe than sorry.

Thanks so much for confirming! I was hoping it wouldn't come to that, but you're right, probably best to get it checked professionally. The error stored in the error memory matches to a broken wire or faulty pressure sensor, so I think the repair costs will be around 95€. I appreciate the advice!
