EQC electronic parking brake failure

Has anyone experienced electronic parking brake failure with their 2021 Mercedes EQC Electric model? I have error codes and suspect a defective electric motor in the brake caliper.

That sounds frustrating. I had a similar electronic brake issue with my previous vehicle, a 2018 Volvo XC60. My issue was more intermittent, where the electronic brake would randomly engage or disengage. I was getting some errors related to the ABS module. Did you check the ABS module for any codes, or have you scanned the car with a professional-grade OBD scanner? Are you sure it is the caliper?

Thanks for your reply. I haven't specifically checked the ABS module myself, and I'm relying on the initial diagnosis. I haven't performed an in-depth brake diagnostics; I'm not super comfortable digging around in the braking system myself. So you think the ABS module could have something to do with the electronic brake, even if the error message says it is the caliper?

In my case, with the Volvo, the ABS module issue was indirectly causing the electronic brake malfunctions. I understand your hesitation about getting too involved. Given the cost estimate you mentioned and the potential vehicle safety implications of brake failure, I would strongly recommend taking it to a qualified Mercedes-Benz workshop for a thorough inspection. They can perform more detailed brake diagnostics and pinpoint the exact cause of the problem.

The issue is resolved. It was the motor in the caliper as initially suspected, but there was also a software glitch causing it to throw errors. They addressed the software and replaced the caliper motor. Cost me 505€, but at least it's sorted. Thanks for your input!
