EQC Power Tailgate Issue
Summary of the thread
The power tailgate on a 2022 Mercedes EQC electric model was malfunctioning, not opening completely, and storing an error. The issue was suspected to be a defective cable or plug connection to the tailgate hall sensor. After taking the vehicle to a workshop, it was confirmed that a faulty connection in the sensor wiring was the cause. The problem was resolved by replacing the connector and performing a sensor calibration, restoring the tailgate's functionality.

I have not yet attempted sensor calibration. Could you elaborate on the calibration process you undertook, or perhaps share any specific steps you followed?

I didn't do the calibration myself. I took it straight to a mechanic because I was worried about messing something up. From what the service guys said, the hall sensor's signal was off. In your case, with it only partially opening and a stored error, it sounds like a trip to the workshop is in order. It might be a simple fix like a loose connection, but it’s best to let a pro handle it to avoid further complications or damaging the tailgate mechanism. Good luck!

I followed your suggestion and took the EQC to the workshop. It turned out to be a faulty connection in the sensor wiring, as suspected. After replacing the connector and performing a sensor calibration, the power tailgate is now functioning correctly. The total cost was 95€.

That sounds frustrating! I had a similar problem with my EQC's power tailgate. I'm no expert, but I recall the issue being linked to the hall sensor. Did you check the sensor calibration? Did you try any troubleshooting steps before suspecting the sensor wiring?
