EQC steering anomaly and sensor issues

My 2021 Mercedes EQC, electric engine, with approximately 138,768 km, presents a steering anomaly. Symptoms include increased steering effort, suggestive of power steering failure, accompanied by a vibrating steering wheel. Diagnostic assessment points towards a defective steering angle sensor, potentially attributable to faulty coding. Could this assessment be accurate, or are there alternative factors to consider within the automotive sensors or steering column assembly?

I had a similar issue with my EQC. Increased effort and shaking steering wheel sounds familiar. Did you check for any alignment problems? A bad alignment can sometimes throw off the traction control system and cause weird readings from the steering angle sensor. Wondering if a sensor failure is the root cause, or just a symptom of something else?

Regarding the alignment, was the sensor failure persistent, or intermittent? Furthermore, did recalibrating the steering angle sensor rectify the issue, or was a component replacement necessary?

The sensor failure was persistent in my case. Recalibration didn't help. Eventually, I had to replace the sensor. While technically it could be coding, it's more likely a faulty unit. Given your symptoms, I'd advise getting a professional opinion at a workshop.

Understood. The information is appreciated. The issue was indeed resolved with a sensor replacement. Total expenditure: 195€.
