Equinox engine misfire
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Chevrolet Equinox is experiencing engine misfires, indicated by a check engine light, jerking, sputtering, and reduced engine power during acceleration. The initial checks of spark plugs and air filter did not resolve the issue, leading to a suspicion of problems with the ignition coil or fuel injector. A similar case suggested that a faulty fuel injector could be the cause, confirmed by error codes pointing to misfires on specific cylinders. The problem was resolved by replacing the defective fuel injector at a workshop, restoring the vehicle's performance.

Yes, the throttle response is definitely off it feels sluggish and unresponsive, like the engine is hesitating. How did you diagnose the fuel injector? Did you get any specific error codes?

The sluggish throttle response confirms it. I had error codes pointing to misfires on specific cylinders. A mechanic diagnosed the faulty injector. It's best to get it checked at a workshop. A defective injection valve is not something you want to tinker with yourself if you aren't experienced.

I took your advice and brought it to my local workshop. You were spot on; it was a defective fuel injector! The repair, including parts and labor, came to about 515€. Runs like a dream now!

Sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my Equinox: check engine light, rough running. For me, it was a bad fuel injector. Have you noticed any difference in your throttle response?
