Equinox power loss check engine light
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Chevrolet Equinox experienced significant power loss and an illuminated check engine light. Initial suspicions pointed to a possible throttle body issue affecting airflow. Further discussion suggested potential problems with the throttle system, including the accelerator pedal module or related electronics. Ultimately, a workshop diagnosis confirmed a defective throttle valve, which was replaced, resolving the issue.

I haven't cleaned the throttle body recently, but the engine idle seems normal. What else could cause these symptoms besides the throttle body itself? Is it possible that it's an electronic issue?

It's possible the issue isn't the throttle body itself, but rather the accelerator pedal module or the electronics controlling the throttle valve. If the idle is fine, a faulty sensor or module could be the culprit. In your situation, I would recommend getting it checked at a workshop. They can read the error code and perform a diagnosis.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to the workshop, and it turned out the throttle valve was defective. They replaced it for 265€. Runs like new now!

Sounds like it could be a few things. Reduced engine power and a check engine light often point to issues with the throttle system. When was the last time you cleaned the throttle body? A dirty throttle body can definitely cause idling problems and reduce fuel efficiency. Also, have you noticed any issues with the engine idling rough?
