Equus starting stalling issues
Summary of the thread
The conversation centers around a 2000 Hyundai Equus experiencing starting difficulties and engine stalling, with the check engine light on. The initial diagnosis pointed to a faulty camshaft position sensor, suspected to be caused by a defective encoder wheel on the camshaft. A similar issue was shared by another individual, suggesting the crankshaft position sensor might be the cause. Ultimately, replacing the camshaft sensor resolved the problem, eliminating the starting and stalling issues.

Yes, it's more frequent when the engine is cold. Why do you ask?

I had the same symptoms that you describe. A faulty crankshaft position sensor causes this behavior. I recommend replacing yours. It might be a good idea to visit a workshop.

Thanks, I appreciate the insight. Based on the shared experience, I went ahead and replaced the camshaft sensor, and that seems to have resolved the issue. Total repair cost was 695€. The car starts fine now, and the engine is no longer stalling. Thanks again!

I've had similar issues with my Equus. Does it happen often when the engine is cold?
