Erratic engine running and power loss in Audi A4: Possible causes and solutions

Hello folks! I have a small problem with my 2010 Audi A4 (gasoline engine, already has 139513 km on the clock). The check engine light is on, the engine is running rough and has lost power. My car jerks when accelerating and the engine sometimes even stalls when idling. I have a hunch that it might have something to do with the tank ventilation system, but after my last visit to the mechanic I've become a bit cautious... Have you ever had similar problems and taken it to your mechanic? What was your experience and what was done? Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2013 Audi A6. The engine performance was also very erratic and I also had the feeling that something was wrong with the tank ventilation system. The problem worsened until the engine stalled while driving, which was quite scary. After visiting my mechanic, he determined that the problem was actually with the intake manifold. It wasn't an easy fix, but after replacing the intake manifold, the car was running fine again. Hope that helps you a little. Good luck!

Hi, thanks for your quick reply! Interesting to hear that you had similar problems with your Audi. Do you think you could remember how much it cost you to repair the intake manifold? Has anything else come up since then or is everything running smoothly now? Thank you very much for your help and support!

Hey, no problem! After I went to the mechanic, the problem with the tank ventilation system was fixed. The price for repairing the defective plug and the cable from the valve was €95. Since then everything has been running perfectly, no further problems. The car is purring like a kitten again! It was definitely worth every penny. Hope this helps you!

Oh, that's a relief! It sounds like an inexpensive fix and not something that would break my bank account. I'm really glad to hear that everything has been running smoothly since your repair. I will definitely take your advice and have my mechanic check for the intake manifold. Thank you so much for your help and detailed information. That was really helpful! I hope I can soon say that my car is purring like a kitten again! Many thanks again.

day together, I had exactly the same problem with my A4 from the same model year. I had a defective ignition coil which I replaced myself. The repair was actually quite cheap (50 euros). Since then everything has been running smoothly again.
