Error memory lock messages on 2003 BMW 6 Series gasoline engine
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
The 2003 BMW 6 Series is experiencing an issue where it keeps saving errors that are not typically present. The possible cause could be a low voltage in the vehicle, which can result from a weak car battery, especially considering the car's high mileage. It's recommended to have the battery and the car's sensors or electrical components checked by a specialist. Resetting the control unit by disconnecting the battery could also help, but if the problem persists, professional help should be sought.

I have seen that the memory is littered with errors that occur in the control electrics and sensors. It keeps showing "Failure of communication to brake electrohydraulics", "Short circuit to positive at vacuum sensor" and so on. Undervoltage sounds logical, of course, as the car already has 27,7563 km on it and many components are no longer fresh. I'll bring this up at my next inspection and hope that the repair won't be too expensive. Are there any other things I need to consider?

Hey, no problem! Well, with the errors mentioned, it seems as if some sensors or electrical components in your car may have problems. I would recommend that you have this checked and measured by a specialist garage. As for the undervoltage, this can also be caused by a weak car battery. With so many kilometers on the clock, it is not unlikely that the battery is slowly giving up the ghost and causing the power supply to falter. Perhaps it would be worth considering having it checked or replaced if necessary. There are other things you could look out for: Pay attention to any strange behavior of your car, e.g. whether the car drives differently in some situations, makes unusual noises or warning lights come on. Such symptoms may indicate underlying problems, which should be rectified sooner rather than later. I hope this helps you!

Hello, thanks for the detailed answer! I will have the battery checked, as it has indeed been on for a few years. I haven't noticed the unusual behavior and noises yet, maybe I'll pay more attention to it. Your tips are really valuable and I am grateful that you have shared your experiences with me! Great class!

To reset the control unit, you typically need to disconnect the battery. Start by turning off the vehicle and locating the battery. Disconnect the negative terminal (usually black) and leave it disconnected for about 15 minutes. Then, reconnect the terminal. This should reset the control unit. However, if the error persists, it's best to have a professional mechanic look at it. Please let me know how it goes.

Hello, Sorry my Message wasn't very clear. I changed the right front headlight on a 2014 bmw 530xd. This headlight is xenon and is adaptive and directional. Carly tells me I have a problem with the directional but does not correct it. Everything worked fine before this complete change following a collision with a game animal. The ballasts are the original ones. Do you have any idea what the problem is? I have a Learn TMS, can it be reprogrammed via Carly?

Hi Vincent, it seems like the issue might be with the adaptive headlight system. This system needs to be calibrated whenever a headlight is replaced. The calibration process ensures that the headlights are properly aligned and can adapt to different driving conditions. Unfortunately, this is not something that can be done with Carly. You will need to take your car to a BMW dealership or a mechanic who has the necessary equipment to calibrate the adaptive headlight system. Please let us know how it goes.

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2001 BMW 5 series. I don't have that much experience with car repairs, but I'm always learning. I took the car to my garage and they found that there was a low voltage in the vehicle. This was the cause of the unusual faults that were stored in the memory. I had to pay 240 euros to have it repaired.
