ES Hybrid Misfiring

Alright Lexus ES hybrid gurus, I'm pulling my hair out here! My 2014 Lexus ES hybrid, with only 38715 km on the clock, has started acting up. The engine's misfiring like crazy! You know, that rough engine running, plus the ever-so-lovely check engine light is now my constant companion. And don't even get me started on the jerking when I try to accelerate – feels like a bucking bronco! Power's definitely down too. Could it be a dodgy spark plug? Or maybe something more sinister, like a fuel injector problem?

Summary of the thread

A 2014 Lexus ES hybrid with 38,715 km is experiencing engine misfiring, rough running, a check engine light, and jerking during acceleration. Possible causes include faulty spark plugs or a defective fuel injector. After scanning for codes and confirming combustion misfires, the issue was diagnosed as a faulty injector, which was repaired at a workshop, resolving the problem.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Misfiring on a hybrid ES, huh? Check engine light plus rough running sounds nasty. Have you tried scanning for codes? That'll give you a head start. When was the last time you changed the spark plugs? And has the car been sitting unused for a long time?

Thanks for the quick reply! Yeah, I scanned it and it's showing combustion misfires. Spark plugs haven't been changed since I bought it, and the car gets used regularly, so sitting unused isn't the issue. Could a defective injection valve/injector really cause all these problems? I'm dreading a huge repair bill!

Combustion misfires definitely point towards fuel or ignition. Since the car is used regularly, it's less likely to be stale fuel. A defective injector could absolutely cause those symptoms, especially with the low mileage and potentially clogged injectors. Seeing as you already scanned the codes, it might be a good idea to get it properly diagnosed at a workshop.

Thanks! Appreciate the confirmation. Took it to the workshop, and you were spot on – faulty injector. Cost me 515€ to get it sorted, but at least the old girl is running smoothly again!
