Escape AC failure

Hi, I'm having a strange problem with my 2002 Ford Escape with a gasoline engine. The air conditioning system doesn't want to switch on anymore. It was working fine, but now it no longer cools, and I've got an error stored. I've checked the AC relay, which seems fine, and I don't see any obvious signs of a refrigerant leak. Could undervoltage be the problem? Has anyone had a similar issue?

Hey! I have an Escape too, though I can't remember the year off-hand, and I had a similar issue last summer. The HVAC system just quit. Was it intermittent at all, or did it just suddenly stop working?

Thanks for the quick response! It pretty much just stopped working suddenly. There wasn't any intermittent behavior beforehand or anything like that. What did you end up doing to fix yours?

Ah, okay. Mine turned out to be more complicated than I thought. Considering yours just quit suddenly, and given the error code, I would advise getting it checked out by a workshop. They'll have the proper diagnostic tools to pinpoint the exact cause. Could be a faulty A/C compressor, or something else entirely.

Okay, I appreciate the advice! I took it to the workshop, and it turned out to be a wiring issue causing undervoltage. Cost me 240€ to get it fixed. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
