Optical locking? I'm not sure. I haven't touched any settings. How would I check that, and what does it have to do with the alarm going haywire?

Yeah, it's like trying to build a house on sand! I didn't even know about it. Mine did the same thing until I took it in. Best to get it looked at. They'll sort it out quick.

Right, thanks! I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on! The alarm was indeed coded for optical locking, and that was messing things up. A quick reconfigure and 45€ later, it's all sorted. Appreciate the pointer!

I had something similar happen in my Escape, it was driving me nuts! Was the alarm system coded to activate optical locking (indicators)?
