Escape engine stalls fuel composition error

My 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid is having issues. The check engine light is on, and the engine sometimes stalls at idle. I scanned for codes and got an error related to fuel composition. The car has 175882 km. Could a defective plug connection be the cause?

Summary of the thread

A 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid experienced engine stalling at idle and displayed a check engine light, with a diagnostic error indicating a fuel composition issue. The problem was suspected to be caused by a defective plug connection to a sensor. The issue was confirmed and resolved by a mechanic, who repaired the defective plug connection.

I had a similar issue with my old Peugeot 208. The engine would stutter, and it turned out to be a fuel issue. Have you tried checking your fuel filter or using any fuel additives? Could also be bad gasoline.

I haven't tried any additives yet. Where is the fuel filter located, and how hard is it to replace on the Escape?

On my Peugeot, it wasn't too difficult – it was under the car near the fuel tank. But honestly, I'd advise against messing with the fuel system yourself if you don't have experience. You might make things worse. With that error code and stalling, it's probably best to get it checked by a mechanic.

Thanks for the advice. Ended up taking it to a workshop. Defective plug to the sensor, exactly as suspected. Repair cost 95€.
