I haven't tried any additives yet. Where is the fuel filter located, and how hard is it to replace on the Escape?

On my Peugeot, it wasn't too difficult – it was under the car near the fuel tank. But honestly, I'd advise against messing with the fuel system yourself if you don't have experience. You might make things worse. With that error code and stalling, it's probably best to get it checked by a mechanic.

Thanks for the advice. Ended up taking it to a workshop. Defective plug to the sensor, exactly as suspected. Repair cost 95€.

I had a similar issue with my old Peugeot 208. The engine would stutter, and it turned out to be a fuel issue. Have you tried checking your fuel filter or using any fuel additives? Could also be bad gasoline.
