Escape fault code and error messages
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Ford Escape is experiencing a fault code and error messages on the infotainment system and speedometer. The issue is suspected to be related to incorrect vehicle coding. An OBD-II scanner was used, revealing a general electronics fault code, but it was not specific enough to identify the problem. The recommended solution is to take the vehicle to a workshop for a detailed diagnostic check, which confirmed a coding issue with the ECU.
Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Thanks for the tip! Yes, I did use an OBD-II scanner, and it gave me a general fault code related to the vehicle's electronics. However, it wasn't specific enough to pinpoint the exact problem. What did you end up doing with your Megane?

Okay, gotcha. Mine was similar - vague code. Eventually, I took it to a workshop. They ran some proper diagnostics and figured out it was a coding issue with the ECU. Best bet is to probably do the same.

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience! I think I will take it to a workshop for a proper diagnostic check. Hopefully, it's just a coding issue and nothing too serious. It turns out it was the coding and cost 360€ to fix.

Hey, that sounds frustrating! I had a similar issue with my old Renault Megane. Kept getting random error messages and the engine light was on constantly. Did you try reading the fault code with an OBD-II scanner? That might give you a better clue as to what's going on.
