Escape Hybrid Rail Pressure Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid experienced intermittent check engine light activation, engine stalling when idling, and reduced power. Diagnostics indicated a faulty rail pressure sensor signal as the potential cause. Suggestions included checking wiring connections and the fuel filter, but ultimately, a certified mechanic confirmed the pressure sensor was faulty. Replacing the sensor resolved the issues.

Thanks for the ideas. I looked at the wiring, and it seems fine. I haven't checked the fuel filter yet. Would a filter that's only partially clogged cause the engine to stall sometimes and reduce power, or would it be more consistent?

It could cause problems that come and go, especially if it's partially clogged. But since it's a hybrid and the code points to the rail pressure sensor, you should probably have a workshop check it. Working on the fuel system on a hybrid can be difficult.

Thanks for the advice. A certified mechanic checked it and said the pressure sensor was bad. The repair cost 240€, including parts and labor. The car runs well now.

Sounds like it could be the problem. I had similar issues with my old Focus, but it wasn't a hybrid. Have you checked the wiring and connections to the sensor? Sometimes a loose connection can cause a false reading. Also, is your fuel filter clean? A clogged filter can mess with fuel pressure.
