Escape Hybrid Stalling Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Ford Escape Hybrid is experiencing stalling issues when coming to a stop, with the check engine light indicating a problem with the idle air control (IAC) valve. The rough idle, especially when cold, suggests a clogged IAC valve due to heavy contamination in the air intake. The recommended solution is to have a professional workshop inspect and clean the air intake and IAC valve, which ultimately resolved the issue.

Rough idle, yeah, especially when it's cold. Where exactly should I be looking on the air intake? Any specific signs of this 'heavy contamination'?

Based on your description, it does sound like the IAC valve. Honestly, it's probably best to take it to a workshop and have them check. I tried cleaning mine myself and ended up making it worse. Save yourself the headache.

Thanks! Took your advice and went to the shop. Turns out the air intake was heavily contaminated, leading to a bad IAC valve. Cost me 425€, but at least it's finally fixed!

I had similar issues with my Escape. Does the engine seem to run rough at all when idling? Check your air intake for heavy contamination; a clogged IAC valve could be the culprit.
