Escape rain light sensor fault
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Ford Escape Hybrid owner reported a rain-light sensor fault, leading to issues with automatic wipers, headlights, and speedometer dimming. The problem was traced to bubbles forming under the gel pad of the sensor on the windshield. The suggested solution was to have the sensor professionally checked and replaced, which resolved the issue.

Thanks for the tip! Yes, the error message indicates a fault with the rain-light sensor. Bubbles under the gel pad... is that a common issue? How would I check for that, and what did you do to resolve it?

Well, it isn't unheard of. Take a close look at the sensor area on the windshield, from inside and outside. You might see small bubbles distorting the view. I didn't try to fix it myself. Took it to a workshop, they confirmed the sensor was the problem due to the gel pad. Probably best to get it checked professionally.

Thanks for the advice! I had the sensor replaced at the workshop. Indeed bubbles had formed under the gel pad. The bill was 62€. Everything is working now as expected.

Interesting. I have an Escape, too. Does the error message specifically mention the sensor? I had issues with the auto headlights and wipers a while back. Could be the gel pad on the windshield causing issues with the sensor. Any sign of bubbles forming under it?
