Escape Seat Heater Failure

My 2004 Ford Escape Hybrid's seat heater isn't working. It doesn't get warm, and there's an error code stored. I suspect the seat heating mat is defective. Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

The seat heater in a 2004 Ford Escape Hybrid is not functioning, and an error code is present. The suspected cause is a defective seat heating mat. Suggested solutions include checking the thermal sensor and heating element, with the recommendation to use a multimeter for diagnosis. Check the thermal sensor and heating element. Is the error code specific? Could also be a temperature control issue. Do you have a multimeter?

I don't have a multimeter. Is there a way to check the heating element without one? Or confirm it's the mat before replacing the seat cushion?

Without a multimeter, pinpointing the fault is tricky. The stored error suggests a break in the circuit, likely within the heating mat itself. Your best bet is a workshop to confirm.

Confirmed it was the seat heating mat. Repair cost 390€. Thanks for the advice.
