Escape Washer Fluid Sensor Issue

My 2004 Ford Escape with a gasoline engine is throwing a 'washer fluid low' warning, even though the reservoir is full! It's only got 41382 km on it. The windshield washer system doesn't work at all now, and the error is stored in the error memory. Wiper water level seems ok. What gives?

I had a similar issue with my Escape. Have you checked the spray jets themselves? Sometimes they get clogged, which can trigger a false low-level reading and prevent the pump from activating.

Interesting, I'll check the jets. But if they were clogged, wouldn't the pump still run? It's completely dead. Is there anything else to look for?

In my case, the blockage caused back pressure that damaged the pump. A diagnostic check showed the same error code. I recommend visiting a certified Ford technician for a professional diagnosis.

Looks like you nailed it. Took it to the shop and the pump was indeed kaput. Cost me 25€ to replace. Thanks for the tip!
