Eseries Auxiliary Heater Problem
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Ford Eseries diesel exhibited poor engine performance during cold starts, an error code, and high fuel consumption, potentially linked to a faulty electric auxiliary heater. The issue was suspected to be a lack of power to the heating element. A similar case was resolved by confirming a defective PTC heater at a workshop, which required professional tools and expertise to diagnose and replace. Following this advice, the heater was replaced, resolving the problem.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, it feels like the heating element isn't getting power. How did you resolve it? How could you tell the heating element wasn't getting power, and where is it located?

Mine was a defective electric auxiliary heater, as you suspected. I didn't diagnose it myself. I'm no expert, so I took it to a workshop, and they confirmed it was the PTC heater. It's best to let an expert look, since you need special tools to reach the heater.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I took your advice and brought it to a local workshop. They confirmed the auxiliary heater was defective and replaced it for about 350€. Now everything works!

I had similar symptoms with my Eseries. Is the air from the vents colder than usual when you first start? Mine felt like the auxiliary heater wasn't working. Have you checked if the heating element is getting power?
