Eseries Outside Temperature Sensor Fault

Hi, I've got a 2013 Ford Eseries with a gasoline engine and I'm having a weird issue. The outside temperature sensor seems to be faulty. I'm getting an error stored in the memory, and the air conditioning won't switch on. Plus, the spray nozzles were frozen the other day, even though it wasn't THAT cold, and the mirror heating isn't working either. I've checked the basics, but I'm not sure where to go from here. The car has about 137233 km on it. Any thoughts?

The symptoms you describe certainly point to a malfunctioning vehicle temperature sensor. I must inquire, have you inspected the cable and plug connection of the sensor itself? A defective connection there is a plausible explanation for the issues you are experiencing. Has any diagnostic work been performed beyond reading the stored error code?

Thanks for the reply. I did have a quick look at the sensor connection, but didn't see anything obvious like a broken wire. Is there a way to test the sensor or the wiring with a multimeter, or is it something that needs specialized equipment?

While a multimeter can provide some insight, interpreting the readings from the vehicle temperature sensor can be challenging without the proper specifications. Given the potential impact on multiple systems (air conditioning, defrosting, mirror heating), and the uncertainty in pinpointing the fault, I would suggest a visit to a qualified workshop for comprehensive diagnostics. This may incur an expense of approximately 95€, however, it will ensure a precise diagnosis and appropriate remedy.

Okay, thanks for the advice. I appreciate you confirming my suspicions. I'll take it to a workshop and have them check the sensor and wiring more thoroughly. Hopefully, it's just a bad connection like you suggested. I will post the resolution when I have it.
