Eseries Transmission Control Unit Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Ford Eseries is experiencing transmission issues, including unresponsive paddle shifters, slipping, grinding noises, and emergency mode activation. These symptoms, along with an error code pointing to the transmission control unit, suggest a likely defect in the unit. A workshop confirmed the defective control unit, and after replacement, the vehicle's transmission functions were restored.

Yes, the error memory shows a fault related to the transmission control unit. Given the symptoms, is a defective control unit the most likely cause?

If the error points directly to it and you're experiencing those symptoms, then yes, a defective control unit is highly probable. It's best to get it checked at a workshop to confirm before replacing it. Could become expensive.

Thanks for the advice. The workshop confirmed the defective control unit. Repair cost 1000€. Everything works now.

Sounds like a potential issue with the car computer. Have you checked the error memory? Does the error message point to the control module or the automatic gearbox directly? Could be the ECU acting up.
