Eseries Transmission Oil Pressure Sensor Fault

I own a 2009 Ford Eseries with a gasoline engine and 121881 km. The engine warning light came on, and I got an error code for the transmission oil pressure sensor. The gearbox enters emergency mode sometimes, with slipping and unclean shifts, and occasional grinding. Could it be the sensor?

Sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my Eseries, though I can't remember the exact code. Did you check your gearbox oil level? Low oil can cause the same symptoms and trigger that sensor.

I have not checked the oil level. Would that also explain the grinding noises when shifting?

Yes, definitely. When the oil is low, the transmission doesn't get lubricated properly, which can lead to grinding. I'd check the level immediately, but given the symptoms, you might already have some wear. I ended up at the workshop; better safe than sorry.

Thank you for the advice. I checked the oil level, and you were right, it was too low. After topping it off, the symptoms persisted, so I followed your advice and took it to a workshop. Turns out, the pressure switch was faulty. The repair cost was 365€. Everything seems fine now.
