Espace AdBlue Empty Error

I'm having a real headache with my 2020 Renault Espace diesel. An error message popped up saying the AdBlue tank is empty, which is weird because I filled it up not long ago. Now, the engine won't even start, and the error memory has the same AdBlue issue stored. Could it be the Ad-Blue output from the tank? Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Greetings. I have a Renault Espace as well, and the symptoms you describe are indeed familiar. The error message combined with the engine refusing to start strongly suggests a problem with the AdBlue system. Have you tried checking for any visible leaks around the tank or the dosing unit? Also, have you recently had any work done on the car that might have disturbed the system?

Thanks for the reply! I haven't spotted any visible leaks, but I haven't really dug deep to check around the dosing unit. No recent work done either, which is why I'm so puzzled. When you had the same issue, was it definitely the AdBlue output that was defective, or could it be something else like a faulty sensor?

In my case, the diagnosis indicated a malfunctioning AdBlue pump, preventing the fluid from being delivered to the SCR catalyst. While a faulty sensor cannot be entirely ruled out without proper diagnostics, the fact that the engine refuses to start points more towards a failure in the AdBlue delivery system itself. I would advise against attempting any repairs yourself, as the system is sensitive and requires specialized tools. Taking your vehicle to a qualified workshop for a comprehensive assessment is the most prudent course of action. The repair cost will be around 250€.

Thanks for the insight! Sounds like a trip to the workshop is unavoidable. I appreciate you confirming the likely cause; at least I have an idea of what to expect. I will post what they find once they have fixed it. Hopefully, it's just the AdBlue output as you suggested.
