Espace diesel boost solenoid issue
Summary of the thread
The 2013 Renault Espace diesel is experiencing power loss, sluggish acceleration, and increased fuel consumption, with the check engine light on. These issues may be linked to a faulty boost solenoid, also known as a vacuum switching valve, which affects boost pressure control. A professional diagnosis is recommended to confirm the solenoid's defectiveness before replacement. After replacing the faulty boost solenoid, the vehicle's performance improved significantly.

Thanks for the quick response! Pressure drop and compressor surge? I don't have the equipment to measure that. I was hoping someone might say 'Yeah, my boost solenoid was bad, replaced it, and all good'. Is there any way to be sure it's the boost solenoid?

While a faulty boost solenoid is a strong possibility, a precise diagnosis requires more sophisticated testing. Given the symptoms and potential cause, I recommend a professional workshop to ascertain if the vacuum switching valve is indeed defective. This would be preferable to replacing components arbitrarily.

Okay, thanks for the advice. I took it to the shop, and you were spot on. The boost solenoid was indeed faulty. The repair cost 140€, and now it runs like a champ again!

I had similar symptoms in my Espace. It could well be a boost pressure control fault. When under load, are you noticing any unusual pressure drop or compressor surge, according to the pressure sensor data?
