Espace engine stalling and idle problems
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Renault Espace with a gasoline engine is experiencing engine stalling and idle problems, accompanied by an intermittent check engine light. The issue is suspected to be related to an air valve problem, possibly due to a defective hose connection. A fellow owner suggests checking for cracks or leaks in the air supply hoses, which leads to the discovery of a split hose. After replacing the hose, the engine issues are resolved, confirming the initial suspicion.

Thanks for the quick reply! I did a visual inspection, but didn't spot anything obvious. Was your problem visible, or did you need to do a more thorough check to find it? Any specific areas I should be focusing on?

Mine wasn't immediately visible, needed a bit of wiggling and prodding to find it - the split was on the underside of the hose. Honestly, given the age and the symptoms, it's probably best to get it checked at a workshop. They'll have the right tools and diagnostics to pinpoint the issue precisely. Could save you a lot of time and frustration.

Appreciate the advice. Took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. Turns out it was a split in the hose as you suggested. Repair cost me 175€, including diagnostics and the replacement hose. Runs like a dream now. Thanks again!

Hey, I had a similar issue with my Espace, although yours is a good bit newer than mine. The symptoms you describe sound very familiar. Have you checked the air supply hoses for any cracks or leaks? Sometimes it's just a small split that's causing the issue.
