Espace Hybrid Boost Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Renault Espace hybrid is experiencing boost issues, including a check engine light, reduced engine power, poor throttle response, stalling, higher fuel consumption, and unusual noises. The suspected cause is a defective wastegate valve, which aligns with similar experiences from others. Checking the MAP or boost pressure sensors is suggested, but ultimately, taking the vehicle to a workshop with hybrid expertise is recommended for a proper diagnosis and repair.

Thanks for the tip! I haven't checked the MAP or pressure sensors yet, but I will. The hissing is definitely more pronounced under load, especially when accelerating. Did you ever get an error code related to the turbocharger or boost pressure?

Yes, I definitely got a boost pressure error code. It turned out to be a defective wastegate valve, exactly as you suspected. Given your symptoms and the hissing noise, I'd bet that's your problem too. Honestly, with those symptoms, I'd take it to a reputable workshop with experience in hybrid systems. Save yourself the headache.

Thanks for the confirmation. I appreciate the advice and I'll take it to my local shop to get it checked. The repair set me back 860€, but at least it's running smoothly now!

I had very similar symptoms with my Espace, though I haven't clocked up as many kilometers. Check engine light, power loss, weird noises... sounds very familiar. Have you tried checking the MAP sensor or boost pressure sensor readings? Might give you a clue before you start tearing things apart. Do you hear the hissing noise all the time, or just under load?
