Thanks! Contaminated intake? Where on the intake should I look for this excessive buildup? Can I clean it myself, or should I leave it to a professional?

In my case, the throttle body was the culprit. Yes, you can clean it, but honestly, given the symptoms and potential for further issues, I'd strongly advise taking it to a workshop. They'll diagnose it properly and ensure everything's running smoothly. Trust me, it's worth it.

Thanks again! I took your suggestion and brought it to a local mechanic. Turns out the air intake was indeed heavily contaminated, just like you said! They replaced the idle air control valve and cleaned everything up. Cost me 425€, but the car runs like new again! I appreciate the help!

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms with my old Opel Astra. The problem was a heavily contaminated intake. Have you checked the air intake or throttle body for excessive buildup?
