Espace key battery warning

Alright, I'm getting a 'key battery low' warning in my 2010 Renault Espace diesel. Now the keyless entry is dead, there's an error stored, and unlocking is a pain. Think it's just the battery?

Sounds familiar! I had something similar happen with my Renault Scenic. Is it completely dead? Like, does the spare key work?

Yeah, spare works fine. But is it really just the battery? Or could it be something more sinister, like the key fob itself?

I had the same thought! But for me, it was 'just' the battery. Though, honestly, I'd still pop into a workshop. If it's not the battery, they can diagnose properly.
