Espace MOST Bus Audio Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Renault Espace experienced a sudden loss of audio and navigation, with an error code indicating a MOST bus issue. The MOST bus is a fiber optic network that connects multimedia components, and a break in this loop can cause system failures. The problem was likely due to a faulty control unit on the MOST bus. The recommended solution was to consult a Renault specialist for diagnostics, which confirmed the issue and led to the replacement of the defective control unit, restoring the system's functionality.

Thanks! Fiber optics sound expensive. I haven't touched anything! It was running fine, then silence. If it's a break in the loop, can I pinpoint the faulty component, or do I replace everything until it works?

Pinpointing the exact component without diagnostic tools is tricky. Because it's a loop, one faulty module can knock out the system. It could be a loose connector, or a module failure. Given the symptoms and the error code, it's likely a defect in a control unit on the MOST bus. I recommend taking it to a workshop familiar with Renault systems and MOST bus diagnostics. They can use a tool to read the bus and identify the culprit.

Thanks for the advice. I was hoping for a simple fix, but I'm out of my depth. I'll book it with a Renault specialist. I got the car back from the workshop and you were spot on! A control unit on the MOST bus had failed. New part and labor cost 1000€, but I have my tunes and navigation back!

MOST bus issues can be a headache. It's how the multimedia components communicate using fiber optics. If there's a break in the loop, things shut down. Losing audio and navigation points to a problem with a control unit on that bus. The error code confirms it. Have you had any work done that might have involved disconnecting components? Like the amplifier, head unit, or navigation module?
