Espace Transfer Case Defective Gears

Espace owner here, similar issue. Gear grinding, oil leakage, and unclean shifts sound familiar. Is there any sign of gear oil leaking?

I haven't noticed any obvious oil leaks, but how would I confirm the oil leakage and is this definitely the transfer case?

It's tricky to spot. Take it to a workshop to check the transfer case oil level and condition. Mine had defective gears, same symptoms.
