Espace transfer case limp mode

Hi, I'm having trouble with my 2012 Renault Espace with a gasoline engine. It's got 206883 km on the clock, and recently the transfer case seems to have gone into limp mode. The gearbox is slipping and the shifts are really unclean. I've heard it might be linked to faults in the ABS system causing powertrain malfunctions? Has anyone experienced something similar?

Sounds familiar! I had something similar happen with my Espace. Was it like the torque converter wasn't locking up properly? Was it also throwing up any warnings related to the gear selector?

Yes, that's exactly how it feels, like the torque converter isn't locking! And now that you mention it, the gear selector feels a bit off too. What did you end up doing to fix it?

Yep, sounds like the same problem. Turned out to be a cascading failure from the ABS module messing with the transfer case. Honestly, I'd get it to a workshop ASAP. You don't want to risk further damage by driving it in limp home mode.

Thanks so much for the insight! It's good to know I'm not completely off base with my suspicions. I booked it in with a local workshop, and you were spot on; it all stemmed from the ABS, but thankfully, it was all covered, and I didn't have to pay anything!
