Essentia door handle electronics failure
Summary of the thread
The 2021 Chevrolet Essentia experienced a failure in the door handle electronics, specifically affecting the keyless access system and generating an error code. Diagnostics suggested the issue might be due to a faulty cable or plug. A similar problem in another vehicle pointed to potential wiring harness issues, but ultimately, the solution for the Essentia was replacing a defective door handle cable.

Thanks. Where is the wiring harness located, and do I need special tools to get to it? I want to check it before going to a workshop.

On the Insignia, the harness was located where the door connects to the car's body, inside a rubber boot. It's a tight fit, so you'll need some small tools to pry it open and inspect the wires. Given the symptoms and error code, it might be best to just have a workshop run a diagnostic; I ended up needing a new door actuator.

I consulted a certified workshop. It was a defective door handle cable, now replaced for 95€.

I had a similar issue with my 2018 Opel Insignia. Keyless entry stopped working, and the error memory showed a fault with the door actuator. Check the wiring harness that goes into the door - they can get brittle and crack.
