Essentia Engine Knocking
Summary of the thread
The conversation centers around a 2019 Chevrolet Essentia experiencing engine knocking, reduced power, jerking during acceleration, and smoke, accompanied by an error code. The initial suspicion was combustion chamber deposits causing pre-ignition or detonation. It was suggested to check the ignition timing and spark plugs for wear. The issue was confirmed and resolved at a workshop, where combustion chamber deposits were addressed.

Thanks. I haven't checked the timing or plugs yet. Could timing or plug issues cause knocking, even with relatively low mileage?

Yes, even with relatively low mileage, timing or spark plug problems can cause knocking, especially with deposits. Given the error code and symptoms, get it checked at a workshop to avoid engine damage.

Took your advice and went to a workshop. They confirmed combustion chamber deposits and fixed it. Cost me 425€. Thanks, it's resolved.

Sounds like pre-ignition or detonation from combustion chamber deposits. Have you checked the ignition timing or spark plugs for wear?
