Estima AC Error

I'm having a frustrating issue with my 2006 Toyota Estima Hybrid. An error is persistently stored, with an error message displayed on the speedometer, and the AC won't engage. I suspect a defective temperature sensor, but investigations point to a potentially faulty AC control unit. The odometer reads 173101 km.
