Estima AC Error

I'm having a frustrating issue with my 2006 Toyota Estima Hybrid. An error is persistently stored, with an error message displayed on the speedometer, and the AC won't engage. I suspect a defective temperature sensor, but investigations point to a potentially faulty AC control unit. The odometer reads 173101 km. Has anyone experienced similar HVAC difficulties with their Estima?

Sounds like a coolant leak affecting the engine cooling, which then impacts the HVAC system. Have you observed any engine temperature fluctuations, or unusual coolant levels? The sensor may be reporting a legitimate anomaly. Is the heat exchanger getting hot?

I haven't observed any engine temperature fluctuations, and coolant levels appear normal. The heat exchanger remains cold. Does your assessment remain unchanged, or are there alternative diagnostic avenues I should explore?

Given the consistently cold heat exchanger, I'm leaning towards a defective AC control unit, possibly from a calibration error. It's similar to a short circuit, but harder to find. I'd suggest professional diagnostics at a workshop equipped for hybrid vehicle HVAC systems.

Following your advice, I consulted a mechanic. The diagnosis confirmed a defective AC control unit, needing replacement. The repair cost 980€. Thank you; your insights proved invaluable.
