Estima AC Not Cooling

My 2011 Toyota Estima with the gasoline engine has a completely dead AC! Error memory shows a fault, it doesn't cool at all, doesn't even switch on, and now there's a warning light. Thinking it's compressor failure, what do you think?

Whoa, that sounds rough! I once had similar symptoms in my old Nissan - turned out to be more than just the compressor. Did you check the refrigerant pressure before jumping to conclusions? A leak or a blocked expansion valve can cause similar problems and might be easier/cheaper to fix.

Hmm, good point. I haven't checked the refrigerant pressure myself. Is that something I can easily do at home, or does it require special tools? Hoping to avoid a full garage visit...

You can get a cheap gauge kit online, but honestly, if you're seeing a warning light and have error codes, it may be beyond a simple top-up. Given all the symptoms, a defective air conditioning control unit is highly likely. Sadly, you should go to a workshop for professional troubleshooting, as you may damage something else trying to fix it yourself.

Thanks for the advice! Looks like you are right. Just got back from the shop. They confirmed it wasn't just the compressor. Turns out it was indeed the AC control unit. Ended up costing me 980€ for the whole thing. Ouch!
