Estima diesel power loss and error code
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Toyota Estima diesel experienced a loss of engine power and displayed an error code. The issue was suspected to be related to the engine control unit (ECU). A suggestion was made to check the main relay, which could cause ECU malfunctions. Upon professional inspection, the main relay was identified as the problem, and replacing it resolved the issue, restoring the vehicle's performance.

A relay? Hmm, I haven't looked at that. Where exactly is the main relay located, and is it easy enough to test myself?

On the Scenic it was near the battery. Honestly, I wouldn't mess with it too much yourself. I ended up taking it to a workshop in the end. Might be worth getting it checked out by a pro before you make it worse.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a local garage, and you were spot on – it was the main relay causing the ECU issues. They replaced it for 120€, and it's running like new again!

Sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my old Renault Scenic. Reduced power, error codes... Could it be the main relay causing the ECU to malfunction? Has anyone suggested checking that?
