Estima diesel power loss hissing noise
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Toyota Estima diesel experienced power loss, a check engine light, and hissing noises during acceleration, leading to increased fuel consumption and occasional stalling. The issues were suspected to be related to the boost pressure actuator or an electrical bypass valve. After taking the vehicle to a workshop, it was confirmed that the boost pressure actuator was faulty. Replacing the actuator resolved the problems, restoring the vehicle's performance.

Turbocharger... it's hard to tell, but that would explain the lack of power, right? How did you figure out it was the actuator? Any tips on checking it?

Lack of power and noise points to the turbo system. I didn't diagnose it myself, took it straight to the workshop. They confirmed it was the actuator. Probably best to get it checked out properly if you're not sure.

I got it to a workshop and it was indeed the boost pressure actuator. New one cost me 250€ fitted. Runs like a dream now!

Sounds familiar. I've got an Estima as well, and I had similar symptoms a while back. Reduced power and that hissing sound... Was your turbocharger working properly? I had a similar issue.
