Estima Diesel Reduced Power Jerking
Summary of the thread
A 2001 Toyota Estima diesel was experiencing reduced power, rough running, and jerking during acceleration, with the check engine light on. The problem was suspected to be fuel-related, possibly due to a faulty injector. After taking the vehicle to a workshop, it was confirmed that a faulty fuel injector was the cause, and repairing it resolved the issue.

Hesitating is a good word for it, yeah! Spark plugs? I thought diesels didn't have those. Where's the EGR valve located? I'm not really a mechanic, just trying to save some cash.

Right, no spark plugs on a diesel, my bad. My issue turned out to be fuel related. Honestly, with those symptoms, especially the jerking, it could be a dodgy injector. Best to get it checked at a workshop.

Thanks for the advice! Took it to a shop, and you were spot on – faulty fuel injector. Repair cost me 515€. Runs like new now!

I had similar issues with my Estima. Check engine light, loss of power... does it feel like it's hesitating? Have you checked the EGR valve or maybe even the spark plugs if it has them?
