Estima Electrical Issues

I'm having some weird electrical issues with my 2009 Toyota Estima hybrid. It's got about 58k km on it. I'm getting sporadic error messages in the driving mode display, and sometimes the error lamps light up randomly. The audio and nav system seems to cut out occasionally, and sometimes the whole thing just seems to freeze up and become unresponsive. I ran an OBD-II scan, and there are errors stored, but nothing specific. Any ideas?

Sounds like a BUS communication problem. Is it always the same systems that fail, or does it vary? You really need to check the main power and ground connections to the affected control units. Have you tried wiggling the connectors to see if that triggers the fault?

Thanks for the quick reply! It's mostly the audio/nav unit, but the driving mode errors seem separate. Where exactly should I be looking for these power and ground connections? Any specific control units I should focus on?

Right, audio/nav issues and driving mode errors separately? Given the symptoms and stored error codes, it really screams defective cable connections to the BUS system. Honestly, with those kind of gremlins, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. They'll pinpoint the bad connection and fix it properly.

Thanks a bunch! I took it to a local shop, and you were spot on. They found a bad cable connection to the control unit, right on the BUS system. Cost me 155€ to repair. All seems good now!
